Are you one of the many people who have grown their hair longer to achieve your dream wedding day look? If so, you've probably been fantasizing about the day when you can get a drastic cut. Wether you're thinking of cutting it right after the ceremony (yes, this is a thing now), or a month or two after asking yourself these simple questions will help you to decide if the big chop is right for you.

ree

  1. Have you been thinking about a specific haircut for awhile? If going to a chin length bob has been on your mind for 4 months for example, it's likely you won't regret it. You can take comfort knowing it's not a spur of the moment decision.

ree

2. Do you feel most like yourself in a shorter length? If so, this is a sure sign that you're ready for a big chop. I'd argue that you don't need to grow length for the wedding to begin with- I'm a fan of our clients feeling the most comfortable and most like themselves on the big day.

ree

3. Have you had a similar length/style before? This one is especially important if you've scheduled the change to happen on the wedding day. We all have a different comfort zone and sometimes when we have a shorter cut than ever before it can be an adjustment. I wouldn't plan such a bold move (if you've never done it before) in the middle of your wedding celebrations.

ree

4. Have you thought about all of your options? If you're used to a long pixie style and you've grown 6 inches to a mid length layered cut for the wedding I recommend experimenting with new styles after the wedding. With your added length you have a lot of new possibilities you might have not thought of. For example, you could have a long bob first, then a short bob with curtain fringe 3 months later, and then finally a pixie. Why not have fun with it?

I hope you found this helpful!

Let me be the first to say I'm learning that I need to share these kind of posts (featuring our real clients much more often), I have so many great galleries that I can't wait to share with you all! Not to mention more rolling in each day.

We've been so blessed to work with many lovely brides and their closest friends and family, I'm happy to be able to share this tribute with everyone. Stay tuned for much more on this through the holiday season!

Which bridal look is your favorite?
